A small town girl who took the Big Apple by storm and learned from some of the best in the business, Jody is truly a jack-of-all-trades. From cutting and styling to coloring and straightening, she’s never content to follow and is always on the lookout for the newest techniques and products to expand her repertoire. A fast learner with gifted hands, Jody loves hair and she won’t quit until you love yours.
Jody has been practicing cosmetic tattooing since 2006 when she caught wind of the latest technique we now know as microblading. Only one problem- the people that inspired her most lived out of the country! Jody immediately decided to challenge herself and figure out microblading on her own. After exhausting her resources, she did it. Not only is she self taught but also has a few techniques of her own.
Since leaving Mint Salon in 2015, she opened her own shop to combine hair & cosmetic tattooing under one roof. And so, Swamp Mermaid Beauty Project was born. With over 20 years in the industry, Jody is truly a master.

She believes there is something special about building relationships with people, in an atmosphere where we're listening to music and communicating authentically, to get their desired results that really excites her about her job. Malinda says, "I've always felt that I am not trying to change anyone, just enhance what they already have and show them how to achieve their hair goals on their own. People aren't always going to have the best hair days, but if they have the right cut & color, styling knowledge, and products, it makes life easier. They can rock it till I get to see them again. Win win." She specializes in curly hair, men's specialty cuts, and balayage.
